December Nights, December Lights

holly_leaves_and_berriesThe Holiday Program, "December Nights, December Lights," is scheduled for December 17, 2009 at 6:30 P.M. in the Trevor gymnasium. All of the third through fifth graders will participate in the program.

Last year, the school conducted a study where we analyzed the amount of time that students spent in non-instructional situations during the school day. A few examples of these situations include when students visit the book fairs, attend positive incentive reward events, or participate in stage crew activities. After looking at the data, the staff was surprised to see that it was possible for some students to lose the equivalent of up to twenty-five days of school! The staff decided that it was important to recapture this lost instructional time.

It was decided that only one day of school would be used for rehearsal and set up of the holiday program instead of four as in past years. This decision has resulted in a slight change to the program. Instead of the musical play format, a more traditional approach will be used. We know you will enjoy watching and listening to your children sing, no matter the format of the program.
